During her search for the hard-surface cleaning appliance of her thrifty dreams, she came across the Bissell PowerEdge Lift-Off, and she couldn’t buy it fast enough. There are so many features to love. This steam mop’s cleaning capabilities aren’t limited to floors – It’s also able to sanitize counters, kitchen tables, plumbing fixtures, tiled shower stalls and more.

Its triangular floor head lets the steam mop attack grime in corners and along the edges of your walls, and the microfiber pad is a breeze to attach and wash. Whether in floor or handheld mode, the mop is lightweight. You’ll find it easy to refill the reservoir due to its compact size, and the power cord offers an abundance of reach. Plus, the PowerEdge Lift-Off comes with two tools you can use to get into crevices and scrub stubborn dirt.

Assembled in 1, 2, 3

Most appliances require some assembly straight out of the box, but the Bissell PowerEdge Lift-Off is not one of those appliances. You don’t need a screwdriver, an Allen wrench or an hour of free time. Within minutes, you can get this steam mop up and running.

The PowerEdge Lift-Off comes in three pieces, which are the floor head, the wand and the main body. Simply push the body into the floor head and the wand into the body until each piece clicks into place. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

Steam in Under a Minute

If you’re hosting some guests and don’t have a lot of time to prepare or you just want to straighten up the house after a long day, you won’t be waiting long for the steam mop’s water to heat to a boiling temperature. Our tester clocked the heating time at right under 30 seconds.

All you have to do to get the benefits of germ-busting steam is plug the mop into a wall outlet. There are no buttons or switches – The heating element kicks on instantly. As the water’s temperature climbs, the blue indicator ring blinks. Once the PowerEdge converts the water to steam, the ring of light becomes stationary.

Easy-Release Reservoir

Is the reservoir easy to fill too? You bet! On the backside of the steam mop, you’ll see the translucent reservoir and a button above it. Cup your palm around the reservoir and firmly grip it while you press the release button.

With a 10-ounce capacity, the reservoir is not bulky. In fact, you can cradle it in your hand while you fill it up at your sink, preventing tip-overs. The reservoir has a rubber stopper that tightly seals the water inlet. This means it won’t leak while you mop. Even if the steam mop gets jostled or shaken, that water is staying put.

Uniquely Shaped Floor Head

One distinctive feature on this Bissell steam mop is its floor head. As opposed to other steam mops with circular or rectangular heads, this mop has a triangular head. Therefore, the corners and wall edges you just can’t reach with steam mops by competing brands are easily accessible with the PowerEdge Lift-Off.

The floor head is rather wide, boasting cleaning path of 11.8 inches, which allows you to make the most of your valuable time. With the steam mop, you get a washable microfiber pad with a thick elastic band. This band makes quick work of securing the pad to the floor head.

Sanitizes Any Sealed Floor

When you have a pet, a baby who crawls or a toddler who’s learning to walk, you don’t want to coat your floors with harsh chemicals. The Bissell PowerEdge only utilizes the power of steam to sanitize every sealed surface in your house by destroying 99 percent of germs with which it comes into contact.

The mop conveniently stands upright unassisted, saving you the trouble of leaning it against the wall just to hear it thud to the floor as soon as you turn your back. To restore the cleanliness and sheen of your laminate, hardwood or tile floors, place your foot on the floor head, pull the handle toward you and swivel the floor head around furniture and other obstacles.

Just take a look at the before and after pictures of our tester’s laminate wood floor. One of the joys of dark floors is that dirt isn’t immediately apparent. Then, you hit it with a camera flash, and you realize you have a mess on your hands.

With a little bit of steam and time, our tester eliminated all the grime on her floor. Even the speck of red paint she once thought was permanently adhered to the floor was finally gone thanks to the steam’s ability to loosen an array of substances.

Lift Off and Go

Bissell’s Lift-Off technology allows you to channel the 1,500-watt mop’s steam and apply it to the above-floor surfaces, children’s toys and tile work in your home. The handheld steamer also comes in handy when you’re de-germing your house after a cold or the flu makes its rounds through every member of your family.

Removing the handheld steam cleaner is equivalent to disassembling the steam mop. Start by pushing the release button between the body and the floor head and lift the body up and away from the floor head. Then, remove the wand by pushing the button above the tank and pull the wand up until it separates from the handheld steamer. Two steps, and it’s done.

A Pair of Tools

The strength of steam is incredible; however, sometimes you need more than just steam to clean a mess. Bissell includes two specialized tools for this purpose. One tool is the grout tool. Like its name, this tool is ideal for brightening grout and removing dirt from crevices. The second tool is a bristled scrub brush that works in conjunction with the steam to eliminate sticky grime from counters and faucets.

Undoubtedly, you’ll switch back and forth between tools as you use the handheld steam cleaner. Thankfully, Bissell made them easy to connect. To do so, grab the attachment of your choice, push it into the steamer’s nozzle and twist it. The horizontal grooves on the tools lock them into place.

Goes Where You Need It to Reach

Whether you use it in floor mode or handheld mode, there is a power cord with which to contend, but Bissell doesn’t short you in terms of reach. This cord is 16 feet long. At this length, the power cord is more than long enough to let you reach every nook and cranny in your house without constantly changing electrical outlets. When you’re finished cleaning, the cord wraps neatly around the PowerEdge Lift-Off’s pair of hooks.

A True Lightweight

The first time our tester lifted this steam mop off the ground, she mentally braced herself for a heavier load, and she was genuinely surprised by how featherlight it felt. With a full reservoir, the PowerEdge weighs a mere 5.8 pounds, which our tester confirmed by weighing it.

In floor mode, the steam mop measures 45.8 inches in height. At 5 feet and 3 inches, our tester stated that her arms weren’t exhausted after using it. She also told us that her 6-foot, 1-inch-tall husband reported no back pain after taking the steam mop for a spin around the house.

Steam You Can Control

When you’re cleaning moisture-sensitive surfaces like laminate hardwood floors, you don’t want to warp them with an uninhibited flow of steam. That’s why Bissell incorporated a trigger into the design of the handheld unit and the mop. The triggers release steam on demand, allowing you to dispense just the right amount of steam onto your floors and other surfaces.

Both the mop and the handheld steamer are looped, so your hand won’t slip. The handheld unit also has raised finger guards to protect your hand from hot steam. When you start it up on a new tank of water, you may hear a faint knocking noise. Don’t be alarmed. This sound is simply the water making its way through the steam mop’s system to the nozzle, and it will quickly stop.

Bissell 20781: Elevate Your Cleaning Game

Want to make your floors cleaner than they’ve ever been? The Bissell PowerEdge Lift-Off can make that happen. The microfiber pad is highly absorbent, and you can just toss it in the washing machine, when necessary. The steam mop is easy to assemble, and its triangle-shaped floor head is a corner-cleaning champ. With a long power cord, your reach is never hindered.

Of course, what sets it apart from other steam mops is its ability to turn into a handheld steam cleaner. Ergonomic handles with a trigger spray give you total control over the release of steam, and Bissell throws in two complimentary attachments. Why have two steam cleaners when you get everything you need from one steam mop? Discover an innovative approach to steam cleaning with the Bissell PowerEdge Lift-Off Steam Mop.

  1. I like this steam mop, the only issue I’m having is the refill tank keeps breaking. no idea why like there’s cracks in it and I just bought a new tank months ago and now it’s broken again. I don’t know if it’s that metal piece inside that hits everything but I can’t use it if I don’t have a tank for it. And I’m not gonna keep buying a new refillable tank is a waste of money just to keep doing that. I’m not too sure if anyone else is having this issue. Power edge steam mop.
